Hannafore, Looe View location
Found by David Fenwick in March and we both returned there at the lowest tide predicted for the season. Unfortunately a brisk south westerly wind had pushed up the tide, flooding shops in Looe that morning and keeping the Eelgrass in 10 cm of water minimum at low tide, otherwise it would have been fully exposed.
This photograph shows the leaf veins, distinguishing this sea plant as vascular - like familiar land plants. Most seaweeds are Algae (and have no veins for transport of fluids). |
