Mendip Hills, Somerset. Edford Wood. View location
Near the stream. The species is recorded as growing wild for these parts but I note that this clone is light blue compared to other pictures I have seen. To some extent though this could be a film / camera etc issue. (What I am showing here is reasonably close to what I saw.) From careful reading of Stace I would say this plant definitely shows the expected characteristics of the native species (such as upper sepal about as wide as high) but the flower may possibly show signs of some influence from garden varieties. |
